Q: How did you come to know the Lord?
A: I was in the fourth grade when I accepted Christ as my Savior. It happened during a revival service at our church. … I do remember coming to a point that evening where I realized I was lost and that Christ was the only One who could save me.
Q: How have you been involved in church through the years?
A: I have been involved in church to some degree ever since I can remember. As a child, I participated in Bible drills and Christmas musicals, and I tagged along on a couple of church building projects. I helped out during VBS (Vacation Bible School) and spent a summer as a church camp counselor while in high school. I now serve as the part-time youth director at Friendship.
Q: What have you gotten from that involvement?
A: The realization that God can take people like me, unqualified and inadequate, and provide them with the full ability to work the task before them. The only requirement is to be a willing servant. It is truly amazing to experience the results of a “Here am I, send me” attitude.
Q: What does the Christian life mean to you?
A: The Christian life is more than a fire insurance policy. … It is a deliberate, daily dying of the old self, lifting up the spirit of Christ that is in us, and fulfilling our part of the Great Commission. It’s not an easy life nor was it ever promised to be. But it is a rewarding and abundant life.
