Duck, Robert “Bob”

Robert “Bob” Duck, retired director of public relations at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM), died Nov. 21. He was 85.

An Alabama native, Duck served the SBOM for 23 years, retiring in 1991.

A graduate of the University of Alabama, Duck received his master’s in religious education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

After his undergraduate studies, he spent time spinning rhythm and blues as a disc jockey and program director at Sylacauga and Andalusia radio stations. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1946 and was awarded the American Area Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon.

Duck was a lifetime member of the Baptist Communicators Association and served for eight years on the board of directors for The Alabama Baptist.

At the time of his death, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Montgomery.

Duck is survived by his niece, one great-nephew, one great-niece, two great-great-nieces and one great-great-nephew. (TAB)
