Georgia native Ben Edfeldt is the new director of collegiate and student ministries for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.
He was elected by trustees of the State Board during a May 20 meeting in Prattville and will begin his new role, which includes serving as a state missionary, June 1. Current director Mike Nuss will assist in the transition.
“Ben is highly gifted and highly qualified,” said Rick Lance, SBOM executive director. “We believe he is the leader for the future of campus ministries in Alabama.”
Edfeldt has served nearly 16 years as a Baptist Student Ministry director at two Texas universities and assisted with work on three other campuses. From 2005 to 2006, Edfeldt served in Alabama as interim youth minister for Dogwood Grove Baptist Church in Adger.
He is a graduate of Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. He and his wife, Beth (a children’s/preschool minister), have three children.
