Members of Edgil Grove Baptist Church and Fall City Baptist Church, both in Jasper, went to Nashville on Sept. 29 for a one-day missions event with The Bridge Ministry. Every Tuesday night, the ministry, which was started by gospel singer Candy Christmas, reaches out to the homeless under the Jefferson Street Bridge.
The 47-member team, led by Edgil Grove Baptist Pastor David Miller, carried 852 sleeping bags and distributed 450 of them to the homeless people who showed up that night. Miller preached and the Edgil Grove Five provided special music.
The churches plan to return to Nashville to work with the ministry again in November.
