ABUJA, Nigeria — Eight more people have been slain in Nigeria and two others kidnapped in the relentless persecution of Christians that reportedly has made the country the world’s most deadly place for believers.
Nigeria has led the world not only in the number of Christians killed for their faith but also in the number of believers kidnapped.
Trail of violence
The news services Christian Daily International and Morning Star News report the following:
— June 2: Dauda Dalyop, pastor of the Assemblies of God Church in Plateau state’s Kwall District, was killed when armed raiders attacked his village. Also killed were his wife, Chummy Dauda, and three other Christians. Muslim Fulani herdsmen are suspected in the attack. This was the second such attack in the area in a matter of days.
— June 5: Christian leaders said members of the terrorist group Boko Haram intercepted four Christians along Damaturu-Biu Highway in Yobe state, killing three. The fourth Christian was taken captive. Boko Haram dragged the Christians from a vehicle into bushes, where three of the believers were slain, Morning Star News reported.
— June 9: Gabriel Ukeh, a priest at St. Thomas Catholic Parish in the Zaman Dabo village of Kaduna state, was abducted from parish property by “armed Muslim bandits,” according to an area resident.
