End-Time Visions
Richard Abanes. Nashville: Broadman and Holman, 1999. 415 pp. $9.99 (paperback).
Since Christ’s time on Earth, there have been Christians, along with other generally religious people, who have been fascinated, even obsessed, with the theme for the date of this world’s end. This stellar work is by a highly regarded authority on cults.
Discussed are views of some of the major players in this movement. The influential ones include the patriot-militia groups, Nostradamus, along with Christian figures such as Hal Lindsay, Pat Robertson, Tim LaHaye and Jack Van Impe. Fortunately, Abanes focuses on Christ’s teachings which indicates we cannot know the time this world will end.
