The Judson College equestrian team traveled to Berry College in Rome, Ga., on Feb. 28 for the final Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition of the season.
Joy Coppock placed sixth in Novice on the Flat in the hunt seat competition. Jessica Elmore placed reserve in Novice Over Fences, Alyssa Hicks placed second in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter and Heather Hodge placed fifth in Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter.
Coppock placed first in both Reining Horsemanship and Open Western Horsemanship in the Western show, making her the high point rider for the day.
Hicks placed second and Samantha Marcella placed fourth in Intermediate II Western Horsemanship.
Elmore and Hodge placed sixth in the different Western competitions. Sarah Dunn placed third in Beginner Western Horsemanship.
On day two, Coppock, Marcella and Candyce Gibbs participated in Western regionals at Berry. Coppock placed fourth in both Reining Horsemanship and Open Western Horsemanship. Marcella placed second in Beginner Western Horsemanship and Gibbs placed fourth. Marcella qualified for the semifinals March 21 in Finlay, Ohio.
Coppock placed reserve high point rider for the 2008–2009 show year. Judson also placed third overall for the show year.
