Some of you have prayed with us for “M” who has come to faith in Christ from a Muslim background after being guided by our leaders in the men’s recreation times on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. After hearing testimony about Christ and becoming disillusioned with Islam, in his searching, Christ appeared to him in a dream saying, “You are mine.”
On awaking, he phoned Mark, our colleague working most closely with him, to say he wants to be a real Christian. At first, he did not want to make this decision known among his community where many Muslims live. But after a few weeks of Bible study and attending church — including one baptismal service — he told our team leader that he wanted to be baptized, and he wanted Mark to do it.
That bright, sunny Sunday morning, “M” gave testimony in broken English to his faith in Christ and his desire to be baptized. Mark assisted our pastor as they baptized “M” and then announced that as a new Christian, he wanted a new name. He is no longer Mohammed but is now Joshua — meaning “The Lord is salvation.” If you could see the radiance on this young man’s face now, you would know of what a joy and peace is his. He has told his family in Iran of his decision, and they are, so far, accepting of it. We pray for their salvation, too.
