Eutaw Baptist shares memories at 175th anniversary celebration

Sharing seemed to be the theme of the 175th anniversary celebration of Eutaw Baptist Church in Bigbee Baptist Association on Nov. 6.

Former pastors Roy Sanford, George Henley and Jim Smith shared their memories about Eutaw Baptist during the morning service, as did Jake Case, a former youth director, and longtime member Judson Cork.

Wilson “Bubba” Henderson Jr., a former member who surrendered to ministry while at Eutaw Baptist, which began a 60-year ministry, led the congregational music and also sang special music.

Also during the service, letters from former members were read and the oldest living member, 95-year-old Chris Beeker, was recognized. Charline Henderson was the guest organist for the celebration and Lonette Berg, executive director of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented a commemorative plaque.

Church member Patti Beeker said of the celebration, “It was just perfect. Good memories were made.”
