Evergreen Baptist Church, Clayton, celebrated its 150th anniversary July 27. Special guests included Britt Green, pastor of First Baptist Eclectic, who was the guest preacher, and former pastor Curtis Rich, currently transitional pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, Troy, who shared historical highlights of the church. Music was provided by Candy Finlayson, Christy Register and Roman Acreman. Sen. Billy Beasley presented a commendation to the church, and Jane Hughes, a commissioner of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, awarded a commemorative plaque to the church, with Wiley McWhorter, pastor, accepting the honor. A covered dish lunch was served following the service.
