Experiencing the miracles of sharing

Experiencing the miracles of sharing

Two years into the Hillwood Baptist Church’s “Sharing the Light” ministry, the Salvation Army sent logistics coordinator Margaret Nivens an incomplete list of the families the church would be helping.

No one discovered the mistake until the night of the banquet when they realized they were significantly short on groceries for the boxes.

“But then,” Nivens said, “we found a sack in the corner filled with everything we needed. To this day we have no idea where that sack came from.”

A few years later, one mother arrived at the banquet with a newborn that the church didn’t know about, so there were no gifts for the baby. Nivens wanted to give the mother some diapers and formula, but they didn’t have any in the room where they kept the groceries and toys.

“A church member overheard me talking about the situation and told me that for some reason she bought two cases of formula that day and that they were in her trunk,” Nivens said.

They handed the new mother the case of formula, knowing full well they had been blessed by another miracle.
