Attending an event earlier this year during which some members of F.A.I.T.H. Riders Motorcycle Ministry spoke sparked an idea for some members of Camp Ground Baptist Church, Ozark — Why don’t we start a F.A.I.T.H. Riders chapter in our congregation?
And not too long after, that’s just what church members George Rouse and Kevin Alexander and Pastor Al Sonanstine decided to do.
On Aug. 31, more than 40 motorcyclists from across Alabama and other states gathered at the Dale Baptist Association church for a F.A.I.T.H. Riders chapter commissioning service.
Marcus Merritt, an associate in the office of evangelism at the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM) and SBOM coordinator of F.A.I.T.H. Riders ministries, led the service.
The Camp Ground Baptist group will be planning several events throughout the year specifically aimed at the motorcycle community.
“Our goal is to provide an opportunity for Christian and non-Christian motorcyclists,” said Renee Rizzo, ministry assistant at Camp Ground and a member of its F.A.I.T.H. Riders ministry. “We hope to share in the joy of the Lord with other motorcycle enthusiasts who may not feel comfortable in the traditional church environment.”
