Faith Baptist Church, Fairhope, in Baldwin Baptist Association recently recognized one of its own for achievement in the field of education. Earlier this year, church member Christine Sealy was named the Alabama State Department of Education’s 2007 Elementary Teacher of the Year and Alternate State Teacher of the Year.
As part of a day set aside at Faith Baptist to offer support and prayer for the schools of Baldwin County, Pastor Tim Patrick presented Sealy with a plaque.
“I am so thankful to be a part of a loving and supporting church and will forever cherish the silver plaque given to me by my Faith family,” she said. “It serves as a reminder of how the Lord works in our lives.”
A first-grade teacher at J. Larry Newton School in Fairhope, Sealy was first selected Newton School’s Elementary Teacher of the Year. She went on to earn honors as Baldwin County’s Elementary Teacher of the Year and the State Board of Education District 1 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
A 12-year veteran of the classroom, Sealy previously taught second and third grades. She serves as an AMSTI (Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative) lead teacher for Newton’s elementary faculty and as a school technology mentor. But for all her achievements, she feels that God has even more in store.
“I truly believe He is preparing me for something great, and I am excited to see where He leads me next,” Sealy said.
During the Sunday School hour, Faron Hollinger, superintendent of Baldwin County Public Schools, spoke to the adults about how they, as Christians, could best support the schools. Judy Patrick, Faith’s minister of education, coordinated the education emphasis, which took place Aug. 5.
