Do you want to reach people for Jesus?
To turn them from darkness to sin?
Do you want to claim souls for the Master?
To help them know peace within?
If you do my friend please hear me,
Remember as long as you live:
“It’s not what you’ve got that matters a lot,
It’s what you are willing to give!”
Beyond riches, fame
You may have riches, fame and position,
Your name held in awe far and wide,
You may have vast knowledge and great wisdom,
And talents endlessly supplied,
But if you want to win others to Jesus,
Be mindful of this as you live:
“It’s not what you’ve got that matters a lot,
It’s what you are willing to give!”
Beyond the finest churches
You can have the finest of all churches—
The dearest folks e’er to be found,
You can have the greatest of preachers,
And a choir that is known all around,
But if you want to reach others for Jesus
Forget not this as you live:
“It’s not what you’ve got that matters a lot,
It’s what you are willing to give!”
One day
One day will you stand there empty-handed?
No souls to claim at the throne?
Will you wonder why God is unhappy?
Why the joy you expected is gone?
He’ll tell you when you seek an answer
And plead your good reasons to live:
“It’s not what you got that mattered a lot,
It’s what you were willing to give.”
