Lillie Falkenberry, who was with the Sunday School office of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions 1957-1973, died Oct. 3 at age 95.
She was an associate in the Sunday School office for many years and in October 1973 retired as a consultant for preschool and children’s work.
Falkenberry earned her bachelor’s degree from Alabama College (University of Montevallo) and in 1957 the master of religious education from Carver School of Missions and Social Work, Louisville, Ky. She was an elementary schoolteacher in Alabama public schools and served as associational missionary (director of missions) in Bethlehem and Pine Barren Associations. Prior to this she was the educational director of First Baptist Church, Selma.
Falkenberry was born in Tunnel Springs in Monroe County Oct. 12, 1908. Her funeral was held at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Tunnel Springs, where she spent her childhood. She is survived by a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
