The girl, who is from Pakistan’s Vehari District, was abducted April 23 by Muhammad Kashif, a 41-year-old married Muslim with four children. Christian Daily International-Morning Star News reports that Kashif, a business owner, had been teaching the girl a trade.
The girl’s mother said Kashif’s wife informed her that day that Kashif had disappeared with the girl.
According to Christian Daily-Morning Star, “[The girl’s grandfather] said the family subsequently learned that Kashif had previously abducted other girls and sold them to traffickers.”
Although her family informed police, little was done to recover her, relatives said.
Court records obtained by the family’s attorney indicate the girl submitted documents May 7 to a magistrate in Lahore, Pakistan, claiming she is 19, converted to Islam and married Kashif willingly.
The attorney is working with the family to secure the girl’s recovery and the perpetrator’s arrest.
