The father said he filed a police report, but no action was taken, and the suspect received prearrest bail.
Other females in Pakistan have been similarly targeted.
An 18-year-old Catholic from the Kot Ranjeet Singh area of Punjab province told the Christian YouTube channel National News Nama that a Muslim man kidnapped her at gunpoint Nov. 7, then tortured and raped her.
The woman’s uncle told Christian Daily International and Morning Star News that the suspect had not been arrested.
Also, a Catholic vendor in Punjab province’s Dera Usman area told those news services of the attempted rape of his 15-year-old daughter by a Muslim man on Oct. 17. The daughter was employed as a maid for the Muslim man’s family.
When confronted, the man admitted his actions and asked the girl’s family not to tell police, the news outlets reported. Then he filed a police report, accusing her of stealing $3,583 (1 million rupees) of jewelry from his house.
Pakistan is No. 7 on Open Doors’ 2024 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian.
