First Baptist Church, Dadeville, celebrated its 175th anniversary Dec. 8, 2013, with guest speaker Rick Lance, executive director of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.
During the 10 a.m. service Lance delivered the message and various songs “from the past and present” were showcased, Pastor Gary Wiggins said.
Calvin Milford, representative from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented a plaque to the church. And since the church qualified as a historical marker because of its age, a historical plaque had been installed outside the day before and was unveiled for the anniversary.
In addition, the Tallapoosa Baptist Association church had a PowerPoint presentation of some of its history and had “an entire room set up for a walk-through history of the church,” Wiggins said.
First, Dadeville, continued its celebration after the anniversary service with a special lunch. “We had a really great team of folks who worked hard on making [the anniversary day] special,” Wiggins noted.
He added that looking to the future of the church, his vision is to continue building on the foundations that have been laid and fulfill the Great Commission.
