Zane Miles will become the new pastor of First Baptist Church, Guin, in January. He and current pastor, Kenny Hatcher, will “trade places,” as Miles becomes senior pastor and Hatcher the associate and senior adult pastor.
Miles was saved at age 12 and called to ministry at 18. He worked as a parks and recreation director and volunteer coach at Marion High School, Guin, until, at age 27, he realized he needed to fulfill his calling. He earned a bachelors in religious studies from Liberty University and is currently finishing a MDiv. Miles began his ministry at FBC in 2014 as student minister; a few years later, he also became the associate pastor. He feels called to the community of Guin, not only the church, and continues to volunteer with the city of Guin and as a coach at the high school. Zane has also served in student ministry roles within the Marion County Baptist Association and currently is catalyst for YMLINK in district 1. He and his wife, Danielle, have two sons.
Hatcher was recently honored for 50 years of ministry, most of which has been in Alabama churches. He was ordained at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, West Blocton, and holds a doctor of ministry from International Seminary, Apopka, Florida. Hatcher is a NAMB endorsed law enforcement chaplain and a vocal recording artist. He and his wife, Phyllis, have one daughter and two grandchildren. “It’s a great swap,” Hatcher said of the coming swap. “We both have worked well together for almost 10 years. The church is growing.”
