FBC Luverne holds 125th anniversary celebration

First Baptist Church, Luverne, celebrated homecoming and its 125th anniversary Sept. 28 with about 150 family and friends. 

Lonette Berg, executive director of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented the Alabama-Crenshaw Baptist Association church with a certificate and Rick Lance, executive director of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, shared a message. Carol Floyd led the music for the service.  

Carole Knox served on the homecoming committee and said 29 visitors, who came with church members, signed the guest book. A video presentation that recognized members who had died — not just in the past year but also in the church’s history — was played during the service and a fellowship meal followed.
