Peyton Hill has been named the new pastor of First Baptist Church, Prattville, as longtime pastor Travis Coleman prepares to retire from the role.
Hill currently serves as pastor of Highland Baptist Church, Grove City, Ohio. Before that he was on staff at First Baptist Church, Woodstock, Georgia. He has a doctorate in preaching from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina; a master of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas; and a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Mississippi State University in Starkville.
He and his wife, Jordan Lee, have three children with a fourth on the way. His first Sunday at First, Prattville, will be Aug. 18.
Coleman has served as pastor of First, Prattville, since 1989 and said it’s been “humbling” to see God’s grace and blessing in that role over the past 30 years.
“I’ve had the honor and privilege of pastoring a great church committed to missions,” he said, noting that it’s been a joy to see the church grow in its desire to make disciples over the years. (Grace Thornton)
