More than 200 people attended a churchwide missions festival at First Baptist Church, Talladega, when Woman’s Missionary Union launched the church’s annual international mission study and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
All seven missions groups represented different countries, preparing authentic meals and decorating with artifacts, posters and photos from the countries chosen.
Countries represented were China, Mexico, Turkey, Italy, Germany, England and Greece.
Members and leaders of these groups spent many hours doing research for the big event, gathering flags of the countries and decorating their areas as well as planning and preparing the meal.
Other activities during the festival included a performance by Harmony Six and the showing of this year’s missions video from the International Mission Board.
The church’s Youth on Mission organization also presented facts about Turkey, the year’s focus country.
Jeanne Dowdle Rasco is WMU director and Troy Morrisopn is interim pastor. (TAB)
