Pastor Samuel Tucker of First Baptist Church, Addison, led a missions team to Uganda July 15–23. The team was comprised of three others from his Winston Baptist Association church and two from churches in West Cullman Baptist Association.
“The whole focus of this trip was to do a pastors conference,” Tucker said.
The team, which mostly worked in the capital city of Kampala, encouraged, taught and trained 137 Ugandan pastors. During the mornings, half of the team members taught discipleship, evangelism and sermon preparation courses in small-group settings, and in the evenings, team members preached two sermons to the larger group.
“The reason we do this is that if we can encourage and strengthen the pastors, then they have a better chance of going back to their villages and making an impact there,” Tucker said.
The team also helped lay the foundation for the construction of a church building for a congregation that does not have one. Three team members assisted with this work during the mornings.
Tucker is already making plans to return again next summer.
