First Baptist Church, Huntsville, on mission

First Baptist Church, Huntsville, sent 21 senior high students and nine adults, including team leader and Minister to Students Jamie Mackey, to Hungary July 15–26.

The team from the Madison Baptist Association church worked with Glen and Clista Adkins, field workers in the city of Pecs, at the Ghandi School for Roma (Gypsy) students.

The team mainly did construction work, including painting seven dorm rooms and three hallways in the boys’ dorm, alongside several of the students.

Mackey said the trip enabled team members to build relationships with the students and share their faith with them, help them practice their English and give them a sense of ownership for the work being done on their school.

According to him, on the last night, Clista Adkins shared with the team that one female student was amazed at how the males from First, Huntsville, treated the females.

“Because of the way our folks treated each other, Clista was able to share Christ with her,” Mackey said.
