First Baptist Church, Montgomery, on mission

Cally Anderson, a member of First Baptist Church, Montgomery, and senior at Samford University in Birmingham, did missions work in Senga Bay, Malawi, July 8–Aug. 12.

Anderson worked in the Senga Bay medical clinic’s pharmacy; taught English, science, agriculture and math to a standard sixth-grade class, ages 14–17, at Senga Bay Baptist School; and helped repaint Senga Bay Baptist Church.

She said the thing that impacted her most was the way the people worshiped.

“Sundays were my favorite days,” Anderson said. “You would spend four hours and feel like you had only been there one hour.”

She described the experience as “eye-opening” and said although the people have nothing, they are willing to give everything they have to God.

“I wish everyone could see the kind of love they have,” Anderson said.
