Trace Hamiter, minister to college at First Baptist Church, Opelika, led 14 college students from the Tuskegee Lee Baptist Association church on a missions trip May 7–22 to Timbuktu, Mali, in Northwest Africa. The group worked with International Mission Board representatives, reaching out to the Songhai, an unreached people group who are primarily Muslim.
During the day, group members distributed evangelistic materials such as the “JESUS” film and participated in Bible storying. In the evenings, they hosted a soccer camp.
“There is a spiritual fog over that place, and we definitely entered into spiritual warfare,” Hamiter said. “But we grew spiritually during our time there.”
