First Baptist Church, Russellville, on mission

Fifty-three students and adults from First Baptist Church, Russellville, went to Rochester, N.Y., July 11–17 to do missions work at The Pines of Perinton-Fairport, a government-subsidized housing project.

The team — led by Richard Parker, minister of students and education — worked with the group Partners in Community Development, hosting day and night camps as well as a hot dog supper one day. The camps averaged more than 90 people in attendance, and more than 200 people came to the hot dog supper.

This was the 19th year a team from the Franklin Baptist Association church has gone to Rochester. Parker said the purpose of going every year is to build relationships.

“We are able to minister to people who receive very little love and able to share Christ with them on a daily basis,” he said.
