First Church, Alabaster, will celebrate its 50th anniversary Oct. 6–7. On Saturday, there will be a carnival, live music and exhibits at 3 p.m., a carry-in dinner at 5 p.m. and a service at 6:30 p.m. with Marion Corley, the church’s first pastor, speaking. On Sunday, former staff member Bob Greene will speak at 8 a.m., former staff member Keith Smyser at 9:15 a.m. and Pastor Emeritus Wayne Crumpton at 10:45 a.m. There will be music at 6 p.m. with former staff member Randy Overstreet speaking. Neil Knierim is pastor.
