First Church, Mobile, will hold the first Sunday of Advent Dec. 2, 10:55 a.m. Jim Barnette, director of ministerial formation and associate professor of religion at Samford University in Birmingham, will preach his final sermon as interim pastor. There will be a breakfast reception in honor of Barnette at 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
