Buddy Champion is the new pastor of First Church, Trussville. Originally from Pelham, Champion comes to First, Trussville, from First Church, Decatur, where he served as pastor since 1997. He previously served as pastor of Shiloh Church, Sardis; in student ministry at First Church, Smithfield, in Fort Worth, Texas; and as a recreation assistant at Shades Mountain Church, Vestavia Hills. Champion is a graduate of Samford University in Birmingham and Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He is currently pursuing his doctorate from Trinity College and Seminary in Newburgh, Ind. Champion has served as chairman of the committee on committees and on the committee on boards and commissions for the Alabama State Convention, as well as other associational and state committees. He also sits on the board of trustees for Samford. Champion and his wife, Lynn, have three daughters.
