Porter King Wallace Jr., former director of missions (DOM) for Alabama Crenshaw and Butler Baptist associations, died Feb. 10. He was 85.
A Stockton native, Wallace graduated from Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and was ordained in 1947 at Huffman Baptist Church.
Wallace was pastor of eight churches in Georgia, Louisiana and Alabama before serving as DOM from 1976 until 1991.
After his retirement, he served as pastor or interim pastor of several churches. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bay Minette, at the time of his death.
Wallace is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; one daughter; one son; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Barbara Caroline.
