Billie Ruth Small Moore, a former missionary to Tanzania and summer Bible camp director, died Aug. 18. She was 91.
Moore served for four years teaching English in Tanzania alongside her husband, Dan Small. They also built Camp Back 40 in Fruithurst during his years of service as director of missions for Cleburne Baptist Association. There they provided summer Bible camps for youth and children for 25 years and directed many other retreats and activities.
Moore also started the Baptist Active Women group, which still ministers to the community in Cleburne County. Later, she and her second husband, Osler Moore, served food and worked with children at a homeless shelter in Jackson, Mississippi, for 10 years in addition to being involved in other church ministries.
Moore is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dan Small. She is survived by her husband, Osler Moore; daughter, Dani; son, Robb; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
