NASHVILLE — H. Franklin Paschall, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC, 1966-1968), died April 10. He was 86.
A graduate of Union University in Jackson, Tenn., and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lousiville, Ky., Paschall served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Nashville; First Baptist Church, Bowling Green., Ky.; Hazel Baptist Church, Ky. He received honorary doctorates from Union and Belmont University in Nashville.
In addition to serving as SBC president, Paschall served as a trustee of the Baptist Sunday School Board (now LifeWay), the SBC executive committee, the SBC’s committee on boards. He was also president of the Nashville Baptist Association Pastors Conference and served on the Executive Board of the Tennessee Baptist and Kentucky Baptist conventions.
Paschall was preceeded in death by his wife, Olga. He is survived by two daughters.
