Gabrielle Blankenship named Miss Judson 2004

Gabrielle Blankenship of Billingsley was recently crowned Miss Judson. Blankenship performed a comedic darice routine to the song “Cuban Pete” from the film, “The Mask,” in the talent section. “This selection is very funny, and I believe it showed that I’m a funny person,” Blankenship said. “I like to laugh and I like to make others laugh, too.”

Blankenship is a junior with a double major in secondary education and history.

“I think Judson is preparing me academically and spiritually,” she said. “I want to be a Christian teacher in the public school system. I want to give students a passion for knowledge, and especially history.”

Her next stop is the Miss Alabama contest in June at Samford University in Birmingham.

Alicia Brown of Greenville was named first runner-up, and Julie Castleberry of Galena, Kan., was named second runner-up. Ashley Upton of Albertville won the swimsuit competition and Cathy Kelly of Alabaster won the talent competition.

The reigning Miss Alabama, Catherine Crosby, served as master of ceremonies for the evening. She and the 2003 Miss Judson, Rebecca Roeman of Demopolis, provided musical entertainment during the program.
