Gadsden’s North Highland celebrates 75 years

North Highland Baptist Church, Gadsden, celebrated its 75th anniversary Sept. 22 during the morning service.

The service featured former pastors of the Etowah Baptist Association church, including Steve Trader, who delivered the sermon.

The Heirborn Quartet from Georgia sang in the service and also later in the afternoon. “The music was just above awesome and so was the sermon,” said Pastor Michael Anderson.

Gary Cardwell, director of missions for Etowah Association, presented a plaque to the church to commemorate its 75 years and Wendell Dutton, representative from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, also presented a plaque. Receiving the plaques on behalf of North Highland Baptist were the church’s four oldest members.

“We had a good crowd,” Anderson said, noting former members were there to celebrate with the church. “We just had a wonderful time.” He added his vision for the future of North Highland is for growth.
