“Reunited” is a collection of 13 ballads set in epic arrangements. These music tracks have been heard on previous Gaither Vocal Band (GVB) recordings but “Reunited” isn’t merely a hits collection. Most of the vocals were recorded afresh to emphasize the five-part harmonies of the current GVB.

David Phelps still possesses an amazing voice, taking lyrics like “I believe in a hill called Mount Calvary” into the rafters. Michael English still pours his heart into every line with soulful expression. His best moments come on “I Am Loved” and “The King Is Coming.”

Wes Hampton’s clear tone fills the spaces left by English and Phelps. He sings a soaring verse on “I’m Free” and is also featured on a verse of “Because He Lives.” Mark Lowry and Bill Gaither have several solos, but their most memorable contributions are their narrations on “The Church Triumphant.”

“There’s Something About That Name” is a live version featuring Gloria Gaither’s narration.

GVB fans who prefer quick arrangements and new material may want to avoid “Reunited.” Fans of their classic anthems will be delighted. “Reunited” is a solid hour of skillfully sung, dramatic arrangements featuring some of the best songs ever written by the Gaithers.
