Leaders of the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force (formerly the Great Commission Task Force) hold a press conference in Atlanta Aug. 12 following the first official meeting of the group. Ronnie Floyd (right), chairman and spokesperson of the task force, told reporters he could not provide many details about the meeting and that “the work has to be confidential to a degree.” He did explain the group’s goal “is to look at the big picture and try to chart the future. … My goal (for the meeting) was to get to know one another and pray together. … Then we talked about where we are as a convention … then the future of the SBC, what that needed to look like.” Southern Baptist Convention President Johnny Hunt (left) is leader of the task force.
