George Washburn called as new pastor of Hopewell Baptist

George Washburn is the new pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church, Marion. Washburn has served Hopewell Baptist since 1998 as worship leader and has served as the church’s interim pastor since February 2018. He also has served at Uniontown Baptist Church and several churches in Louisiana. Washburn also is the director of library resources at Judson College and serves as vice moderator and associational music director for Cahaba Baptist Association. He holds degrees from Auburn and Troy universities as well as a master’s degree and doctorate from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Washburn and his wife, Leah, have two children and three grandchildren.
