ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — In the midst of terrorism and persecution, God is at work in Pakistan, said Asad Rafi of Faith Force Ministries in Pakistan’s capital city Islamabad.
On Sept. 12, Faith Force Ministries hosted Alabama Baptist evangelist Anis Shorrosh via Skype — a first for the Pakistani evangelical ministry.
“Even in the midst of war, we were so excited because in the history of Pakistan, that was the first time where people could see Anis Shorrosh and hear singing in our gospel language,” Rafi said. “It was momentous and God brought 300 people.”
But this event barely scratches the surface of the people’s hunger to learn, Rafi explained. So Dec. 12, the ministry is hosting another training session and Christmas dinner, and they are expecting more than a thousand pastors, evangelists and ministry leaders to attend. Rafi said although terrorist activity has “breached every location,” whether through physical persecution or through churches being ousted from their buildings, God is still at work.
“The fear of losing the church is there every day,” he said. “Sometimes you can see the persecution through their eyes. … I’m thankful to the Lord. This is what we think every day — that He has called us over here to do this.
“You are talking to someone who lives this life every day. … But even if I die for Christ, that would be my honor. I don’t know how many good years I have on this planet, but all I have is for Christ and this is what our passion is. Our optimum duty is to serve the Lord to do the maximum of what we can.”
