The Very Best of Gold City
GCM

If a person was to sit down and compile a list of the greatest quartet to ever be a part of southern gospel music, he or she would certainly have to include the name Gold City. For more than 20 years, this quartet had been delivering fine singing and awesome songs in a manner that would surely please James D. Vaughn.

For their first release on their own recording label, Gold City had assembled a collection of 20 songs that highlight the group at its very best.

Most of the songs on the recording have long been fan favorites, but “The Very Best of Gold City” opens with “The Patriotic Medley,” a spine-tingling tribute to the greatest country in the world. From there, it’s a genuine walk through musical history as you’ll hear many of the songs –most are the original recording that soared up the charts—that have made Gold City a dynamic force in gospel music.

Remember these classic songs? “In My Rode of White,” “Midnight Cry,” “One Scarred Hand,” “When I Get Carried Away,” “When He Reached down His Hand,” “I Think I’ll Read it Again,” “It’s Still the Cross,” “Who but God,” “I’m Not Giving Up,” “We’re Gonna Rise,” “Hello in Heaven,” “Come on In” and “Not Made With Hands.” If you’ve followed southern gospel for any length of time at all, surely at least half of those songs will occupy a special place in your heart.

If there was ever a recording that was appropriately title, it’s the “Very Best of Gold City.”
