Goldman tapped for new missions post

The Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions (SBOM) recently named Scotty Goldman to a new position in its office of global missions.

Goldman — formerly an associate in the SBOM office of collegiate and student ministries — began serving Jan. 1 as an associate in the office of global missions, directed by Reggie Quimby.

“I am thankful to the Lord for bringing Scotty and his missions heart to our office,” Quimby said. “Scotty is a people person, he is multitalented (and) he knows how to mobilize persons to be on mission.”

The SBOM and Executive Director Rick Lance recognized the need for an associate to assist in the increased responsibilities of partnerships, Quimby said.

Goldman’s responsibilities include managing Alabama Baptists’ partnerships with Ukraine and Michigan. He also has “constant contact” with missions volunteers, Quimby said.

Goldman said he’s seen firsthand the impact a missions team can have through the state’s partnerships. “I have also seen how being on mission can impact an individual and a church — it brings new excitement and new life for both,” he said.

Goldman is a member of First Baptist Church, Prattville, in Autauga Baptist Association. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University in Starkville; master’s from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas; and doctorate from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, Calif.
