BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — “The Gospel of John” won Movieguide’s top award for films and Hallmark Channel’s “Love Comes Softly” won the publication’s top prize for television at an annual awards ceremony March 24.
The awards are sponsored by the Christian Film & Television Commission, an organization based in Camarillo, Calif., that publishes the biweekly Movieguide, a family-oriented guide to movies and entertainment. They were announced at a ceremony in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The top 10 films for family audiences chosen by the commission were: “Cheaper by the Dozen,” “Finding Nemo,” “Peter Pan,” “Piglet’s Big Movie,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Secondhand Lions,” “Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas,” “Spellbound,” “Spy Kids 3D” and “The Gospel of John.” The top 10 films for mature audiences were: “Gods & Generals,” “In America,” “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” “Luther,” “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World,” “Matchstick Men,” “The Matrix Revolutions,” “Seabiscuit,” “Tears of the Sun” and “X2: X-Men United.”
