Gravel Hill Baptist Church commemorated 125 years Oct. 3 in a two-part morning service.
A 10 a.m. singing kicked off the celebration and featured special music by Tammi and Mitchell Turner, Bobby Johnson and Brad Jones. At the 11 a.m. service, Butler Baptist Association Director of Missions Allen Winn and Alabama Baptist Historical Commission representative Dalton Campbell each made a presentation to the church. A 20-minute film that showed the history of Gravel Hill Baptist was the highlight of the day, according to anniversary committee member Ann Cargile. Pastor Donald Smith closed the service in prayer.
Between services participants took a group picture in front of the church. Historic pictures and memorabilia were set out for participants to view during the covered dish lunch that concluded the celebration.
