Antioch East Baptist Church, Greenville, in Butler Baptist Association, marked 150 years of ministry with about 350 participants Aug. 2.
Highlights of the morning service included a performance by the children’s choir, a slideshow of the church’s history and recognition of former pastors. Participants received a CD of the slideshow, and coloring books with the church’s history were made for the children, according to Ruby Chambliss, chairperson of the anniversary planning committee.
Lonette Berg, executive director of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented a plaque to the church and members also buried a time capsule that is to be dug up in 25 years.
After lunch Glory Bound bluegrass band performed. Ronnie Boulware is pastor.
