Pastor Robert Griffin says he’s so grateful that for the past 25 years, he’s had the freedom to preach God’s word unhindered at Highland Baptist Church (HBC), Clanton.
“In fact, the good folks at HBC have always expected me to preach the Word,” he said.
Highland Baptist honored Griffin on Aug. 19 for his quarter century of service at the church. During the morning service, they presented him with a plaque and a gift. Rick Lance, executive director of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, and Larry Felkins, director of missions for Chilton Baptist Association, also presented Griffin with certificates of appreciation.
Griffin also is an outstanding Bible teacher — “one of the best,” Felkins said — and has served as a New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary extension director for 18 years.
As part of the celebration, the congregation also gathered for a meal and presented Griffin with cards and gifts. A former church member returned to bring the special music, and Lance preached a special message.
“It was an amazing day,” Griffin said. (Grace Thornton)
