Three Christians were killed and 15 others kidnapped when gunmen invaded a nighttime prayer vigil in Nigeria.
The attack occurred May 23 in Ori-Oke Ajaiye in Ekerin village in Nigeria’s Kwara state, reports Christian Daily International-Morning Star News.
“[A]rmed hoodlums invaded the prayer ground, firing sporadically, killing three persons while abducting 15 others to an unknown destination,” stated Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, spokesman for Kwara State Police Command, relaying information reported by Adebayo Abiodun, a pastor.

Christian Daily-Morning Star says Ekiti Local Government Council urged churches to suspend nighttime gatherings for a while because of terrorist activity.
This was the third attack since November, when armed bandits killed three Christians at Christ Apostolic Church in Oke Isegun and kidnapped several others. In March, more were kidnapped during an attack upon an Evangelical Church Winning All congregation in Omugo, the news outlet states.
“The recurring incidents clearly demonstrate the growing boldness of criminal groups operating within Kwara state,” leadership of the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights said.
