A pastor in South Sudan was abducted in February while fishing, and then slain — the second church leader to be killed in two months.
Lino Pasquale, pastor of Hai Baraka Pentecostal Church near Juba, South Sudan, disappeared while fishing Feb. 19 at a river in Gondokoro, a family member told Morning Star News. Pasquale’s body was found in the area Feb. 25, according to a statement from Sudan Pentecostal Church.

SPC and its Juba Area Board called Pasquale’s death a “heinous and targeted killing,” perpetrated by “unknown gunmen.”
The abduction and murder occurred only five weeks after Christopher Maring was assassinated, according to Martin Mogga, deputy presiding bishop of Africa Inland Church (AIC). Gunmen shot to death Maring, a senior AIC leader, on Jan. 14 at his home in Gudele, sources told Morning Star.
