Historian Elizabeth Varon to Speak at University of Mobile’s Billy G. Hines Lecture Series

The University of Mobile (UMobile) will host historian Elizabeth Varon as speaker for the 10th anniversary of the Billy G. Hinson Lecture Series at the History Museum of Mobile on March 19, 7 p.m.

Varon is the Longbourne M. Williams professor of American history at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. The program, titled “Legacies of Appomattox: Lee’s Surrender in History and Memory,” will include a lecture, a reception and a book signing. The public is invited.
