Hollis, James Dewey

James Dewey Hollis, a retired missionary to China and Hong Kong, died Sept. 14. He was 83.

A graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., Hollis served with the Foreign Mission Board (now the International Mission Board) for 40 years before retiring in 1989.

On the field, he helped build a church in China and taught classes at a seminary and a Baptist college in Hong Kong. He also served as an advisory pastor, preaching at different churches in those regions on Sundays.

Hollis was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, Cullman, in West Cullman Baptist Association. He is survived by wife Corinne, nine children, 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  (TAB)
