James Huguley has been a deacon for 40 years and chairman of the board of deacons for more than 15 years. Although he recently resigned as Sunday School director after 32 years in the position, he continues to serve as chairman of the building and grounds committee and senior adult class leader. In his spare time, he enjoys assisting community residents with repair problems and transportation needs.
Q: What led you to become active in church?
A: When you become a Christian, you want to do something for the Lord. I just enjoy doing it because I love the Lord.
Q: Why have you continued this activity?
A: I love my church and my church family. I want to do whatever needs to be done.
Q: What does the ministry demand?
A: Anything you do demands a certain amount of time. I want to serve to the best of my ability. To me, you’ve got to dedicate yourself, and that demands a part of your life.
Q: What do you get from the ministry?
A: The best self-satisfaction in service to Him.
Q: How do family members support you?
A: My wife supports me completely.
Q: How do you see yourself involved in this in the future?
A: As long as I’m able, I’m going to be there.
Q: What difference will this work make for you in the future?
A: It would mean a lot. I hope the church will keep growing in service and reaching out to people. That would be my goal.
